One of the longest preserved railways in Great Britain, running for 11 miles from the market town of Dereham to Wymondham. It follows a significant portion of the former Great Eastern main line and offers a peaceful journey through the heart of the Norfolk countryside.
The Great Eastern Branch
The Mid-Norfolk Railway preserves a large section of the former Great Eastern Railway's Wymondham to Wells branch line. After closing in the late 1960s, it was saved by enthusiasts who saw its value as a rural transport corridor. Today, it is famous for its unique collection of first-generation diesel locomotives and its beautifully restored Victorian station at Dereham, preserving the atmosphere of a busy East Anglian regional line.
